OPPO A2: The Phone with the Ultra-Sharp Camera and Pixel-Dense Display

Oppo's new A-series smartphone has been released in China. The Oppo A2, as the device is known, was unveiled barely two weeks after the Oppo A2X. For those who missed it, Oppo also announced the A79 in India last week.

The Oppo A2 shares most of the major features with the Oppo A79 2023, as one would anticipate from a handset with such a short launch window. This includes the SoC, camera, display, and other components.

MAIN HIGHLIGHTS OF THE OPPO A2:

The Oppo A2 boasts a 6.72-inch IPS LCD display with FHD+ resolution on the front. It has a refresh rate of 90 Hz and a punch-hole camera cutout on the top. This design features an enhanced 8 MP front camera capable of producing clear and detailed selfies.

The Oppo A2 has a dual camera setup on the back. There's a 50 MP primary sensor and an 8 MP ultrawide lens among them. The smartphone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6020 chipset. It's a nice mid-range SoC with good overall performance for the money.

In terms of storage and RAM, the Oppo A2 comes with 12 GB of RAM and two storage capacities: 256 GB and 512 GB. As a result, it can easily handle the majority of memory-intensive programs. In terms of software, the smartphone runs ColorOS 13.1, which is based on Android 13. The device's battery is a 5000 mAh cell that supports 33-watt quick charging. It is also IP54-rated.

The Oppo A2 is available in three colors: green, purple, and black. In terms of pricing, the model with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage costs CNY1699, which is almost US$232. The option with 512 GB of storage costs CNY1799, which is around USD 246. The smartphone will be available for purchase in China on November 6.
